Meet Ben

Ben Graber, the son of Holocaust survivors, immigrated to the United States after leaving a displaced person’s camp in Germany and settled with his family in The Bronx.

Ben attended Queens College and Texas Tech University School of Medicine. He moved to Florida and for the past 29 years, Ben has practiced Gynecological Surgery in Coral Springs. He is also a voluntary associate clinical professor at the University of Florida and University of Miami's schools of Medicine.

In 1988, Ben was elected to the Florida House of Representatives. During his term in the State Legislature, Ben’s leadership skills were recognized by his colleagues and he was named the Deputy Majority Leader, appointed to chair the Health Committee, and was elected the chair of the Broward Legislative Delegation. After his four terms in the House, Ben served in the Broward County Commission beginning in 2000. In 2005, Ben served as the Mayor of Broward County.

Ben has nearly two decades of experience getting things done in South Florida as a Democrat. He recently became a no party affiliated candidate to give all citizens the opportunity to vote for their next congressman after returning from the summer vacation season. As your next congressman, Ben plans to strengthen our economy, bring our troops home from Iraq, bring our industrial jobs back home, and deliver a single-payer healthcare system he has tested in Florida and has proven will work for America.

Ben married his childhood sweetheart, Sandy, 38 years ago. They raised their three daughters, Mylissa, a physician; Geneen, a pharmacist; and Cari, a physician; right here in South Florida.
